VIVA L’ITALIA
On July 27, Collins embraced Italian-American roots at the 9th annual Italian American Heritage Festival celebration in downtown Des Moines. Regardless of your family’s ancestry, everyone can get on board with authentic Italian cuisines, especially pizza.
OLD MACDONALD FARM FAIR
On July 28, Collins hosted a chalk the walk activity at the annual Old MacDonald’s Country Farm Fair at Bever Park in Cedar Rapids. The team got some dirt on their boots and chalk on their hands.
TASTE OF DUBUQUE
On August 2, Collins again served as the presenting sponsor for Taste of Dubuque, where we provided reusable plastic water bottles to replace bottled water to help decrease the carbon footprint of the event. Nothing tastes as sweet as saving the planet!
IMAGINATION LIBRARY CHECK PRESENTATION
On August 21, Collins presented a check for $2,105 to the Cedar Rapids Public Library in support of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Foundation. We raised this money during the July “Casual for a Cause” fundraiser.
The Casual for a Cause program at Collins allows credit union employees to enroll in a $5 payroll deduction plan to wear jeans every Friday. The money is then donated to a different cause each month as chosen by a peer-led committee called the Community Action Committee. Other recipients have included Camp Courageous, the Ronald McDonald House, Cedar Bend Humane Society, Iowa Donor Network, and more.
INGERSOLL LIVE
On August 25, Collins participated as a vendor at the 15th anniversary of the Ingersoll LIVE Festival in Des Moines. This family-friendly festival was a great way for us to jam out to live music and enjoy a variety of festivities with our Central Iowa community!
DOGS4DYSTONIA
Also, on August 25, the Marion branch was involved in Dogs4Dystonia at Thomas Park. This fun canine-inclusive walk featured tons of fun activities and allowed all the local “good boys” to come hang out with our Marion team in support of a great cause for the dystonia community.
CEDAR VALLEY PRIDEFEST
August 25 was a booming day for us, as Collins also had a tent at Cedar Valley Pridefest, handing out rainbow sunglasses, bubbles and selling T-shirts for $15 with proceeds to benefit the Trevor Project. The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning people under 25.
JAZZ UNDER THE STARS
Every Thursday night in August, KCCK's annual Jazz Under the Stars concert series takes place at Noelridge Park. The last Thursday was the finale, hosted at the McGrath Amphitheater. Collins gave away the Pink Flamingo Award to the "Best Party in the Park!" Dairy Queen coupons are also part of the prize!
