There is a new debit scam going around our area which sends an automated message claiming to be from “National Credit Union Management” warning you that your debit card is locked. The message then prompts the receiver to press two to be connected to their 24 hour help line. The numbers that have been reported in our area so far include 763-713-0323 and 206-777-1088.
Should you receive a phone call or text message from these numbers hang up or delete immediately. Be sure to take extra caution if you receive any unsolicited phone calls of text message of this nature regardless of the phone number.
To ensure your safety, never give out sensitive account information such as account numbers, expiration dates, PIN numbers, etc., without knowing you who are speaking with, especially if the call was unsolicited. If the number on the caller ID is unfamiliar to you or you don’t recognize the name of the agency that’s calling, do not give out any information.
