The Credit Union Difference: We're Committed to Serving You

As a member-owner of Collins Community Credit Union, you’re probably already aware of the credit union difference.  A credit union is a financial organization that is owned by you, the member, instead of stockholders.

Because you are the owner, you call the shots, so to speak, by electing our volunteer board of directors who set the policies. They, in turn, hire the CEO who directs the day-to-day operations.

The day-to-day operations of a credit union are complex in normal times.  Balancing excellent member service, adhering to all of the rules and regulations, and maintaining safety and soundness are core to us. In response to COVID-19, Collins Community Credit Union is looking out for you, the owner, by implementing programs and policies that our members, business members, communities, and staff need in this time.

First things first, your money is safe here. All deposits are insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) up to $250,000. Credit Unions have been in the United States since 1908, and no credit union member has ever lost a penny of insured money through any financial crisis.

Secondly, we care. We care that you may be without an income. Collins Community Credit Union is now offering our members low rate personal loans, loan extensions, and mortgage relief options, as well as financial assistance for our business members who have been financially impacted by COVID-19. We’re also watching out for our members in regards to fraudsters that prey on fear. Our teams are trained to listen and be aware of transactions that are not normal or typical from our members. If you’re questioned about a transaction, remember, we see more fraud schemes than you do and we are simply trying to ensure that your money is safe.

Lastly, we’ve closed our lobbies and opened our drive-thrus only, in an effort to keep you and our teams safe. If you need to come into an office, we ask that you please call to make an appointment so we can keep the number of people in our offices as low as possible. Once a member leaves, the space used is sanitized as well as any doors or other surfaces that were touched. You use a pen - you keep it! wink

Collins treats you like you own the place, because you do.  We are all navigating through this together. If you have any concerns regarding your finances, or believe you may need assistance, please reach out us and we’ll work together to find a solution that’s best for you. We’re honored and committed to serving you. That's the credit union difference.
