It’s a new year, which means there’s no better time to get your finances in order. During these cold winter months take some time to reevaluate your checking account to see if it’s meeting your needs. One of the first things to consider when switching financial institutions is if you’re earning money with your current account or not.

At Collins Community Credit Union, we offer a high-yield checking account called Advantage Checking. With our Advantage Checking Account, you can earn 2.25% APY* when you sign up for eStatements, have at least one direct deposit, sign in to online banking at least once a month and use your debit card 15 times throughout the month.

The best part is there no monthly fees and your money is working for you! With CU Online and the Collins Community CU mobile app, it’s easy to keep tabs on your account. And, if you’re like me, you’ll have no problem using your debit card 15 times a month.

If you’re looking for a more basic checking option we offer a Free Checking Account and an eChecking Account. No matter which account you choose, all of our checking accounts feature a free Visa® debit card, online and mobile banking, mobile deposit and require no minimum balance.

Once you’re ready to make the switch stop into any Collins Community CU location and open an account. But remember, you’ll want to keep your old checking account open for at least a month while you get everything switched over. This will help protect you from overdraft fees and will give you time to change the information on your automatic bill payments. You will want to be very diligent when switching accounts and make sure that all of your information is up-to-date.

If you have any questions about our checking accounts stop in and see us or call 800-475-1150. We’ll help you get on the path to financial success in 2015!

*APY = Annual Percentage Yield. The portion of balances from $25,000.01 -$50,000.00 receive 0.20% APY and the portion of balances $50,000.01 and up receive 0.10% APY. If you do not meet these requirements, your account will still function as a free checking account earning 0.01% APY. APY is accurate as of the last dividend declaration date. APY may change after account is opened.  A minimum $50.00 deposit is required to open account. No minimum balance is required to earn APY. Fees could reduce earnings on account. Available for personal accounts only. Must meet membership and account eligibility requirements. Other restrictions may apply.
