As Memorial Day weekend approaches, we can only hope that sunshine and summer time is on its way, and what better time than now to start the house hunting journey that you’ve been dreaming about.

We all know that buying a new home isn’t as simple as one, two, key; but at Collins Community CU, we’re devoted to your financial success. So, we’ve put together some tools and resources to bridge the gap between finding and owning your dream home.

In June, we’ll be hosting two home buying seminars; one in North Liberty and one in Cedar Rapids.

On June 9, Devin Madsen, Real Estate Loan Officer at our North Liberty branch will walk first time buyers through the mortgage process. Devin joined the Collins Community CU Home Team in November of 2014. He previously worked at Wells Fargo as a Home Mortgage Consultant, attended Iowa State University and currently resides in Cedar Rapids.

On June 16, the newest member of the Home Team, Zach Stineman, will host a home buying seminar in Cedar Rapids. Zach joined the Home Team in April. He received a Finance Degree from the University of Northern Iowa and has three years experience as a mortgage lender.

“Helping people through the process of purchasing what is likely their most important asset, is what makes me want to be a mortgage lender. I listen to my members’ needs and offer them the best option for their unique financial situation,” said Stineman. When Zach is not in the office, he loves to spend time outdoors with his wife Kara and daughter Alex.

We know that the summer months can be hectic with ball games, family vacations and community events, so if you’re not able to attend one of our seminars, don’t worry; we’ve created a home buying video series, a printable mortgage checklist and have mortgage calculators on our website for you to learn more about the home buying process.

And, as always, if you have questions, we’re here to help! With offices in Cedar Falls, Dubuque, Marion, Cedar Rapids, North Liberty and Des Moines, all you need is us. Happy house hunting!
