This holiday season  I’ve had a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit; maybe it’s the lack of snow, maybe it’s because I’m two and a half hours away from my family, or maybe it’s the fact that everyone seems to be too “busy” to remember the reason for the season. Whatever it may be, I was feeling bah-humbug. So, this weekend I did some thinking and reminded myself how truly blessed I am and to focus on the positives; to look past what’s going on in the media and how “busy” I am trying to wrap up things in the office before I leave for the holidays, and spread Christmas cheer.

It’s not about the presents and the fanfare; it’s about spreading peace, love and joy. With that, I leave you with a simple Christmas wish from John Denver and Kermit the Frog…

“I don't know if you believe in Christmas,
or if you have presents underneath the Christmas tree.
But if you believe in love, that will be more than enough
for you to come and celebrate with me.

For I have held the precious gift that love brings
even though I've never saw a Christmas star.
But I know there is a light, I have felt it burn inside,
and I can see it shining from afar.

Christmas is a time to come together, a time to put all differences aside.
And I reach out my hand to the family of man to share the joy I feel at Christmas time.

For the truth that binds us all together, I would like to say a simple prayer.
That at this special time, you will have true peace of mind and love to last throughout the coming year.

And if you believe in love, that will be more than enough
for peace to last throughout the coming year.
And peace on earth will last throughout the year.”

Remember this holiday season, that everyone has a story, and those differences are what makes us beautiful human beings. Let’s come together and spread peace, love and joy not only during the Christmas season, but throughout the coming year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
