It’s crazy to think that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. It’s also crazy to think that according to Time Money, Americans will spend $18.9 billion dollars on Valentine’s Day this year. Wow!

Whether you feel obligated to buy expensive gifts for your significant other, you want to show your pooch how much you appreciate their warm wet kisses and sweet puppy snuggles, or you flat out buy a gift for yourself, Valentine’s Day can be expensive.

If you’re looking for ways to save money this Valentine’s Day, let Pinterest be your friend. Look for unique gift ideas that you can make yourself. Or, check out Etsy to find unique, hand-made gifts on the cheap. Both sites will give you great ideas for humans and critters alike.

Or, rather than spending money stuff, try something new... like dance lessons! Collins Community CU business member, TC Dance Club of Cedar Rapids, is offering a dance lesson and a dozen roses for only $49.99. At TC Dance Club, their goal is to provide a fun, comfortable and exciting environment for their members to learn in, while sharing the joy of dance. For more information call 319-365-1275 or email tcdcncr@att.net.

Is dinner and a movie more your style? Try out Benefits Plus®, the Credit Union’s exclusive member discount program. With Benefits Plus, you can purchase two movie tickets and a $25 restaurant gift card for just $35. Click here for your free 30 day trial.

I have to admit, Valentine’s Day is not my favorite holiday. I do like getting flowers, but really a simple card will do. I mean, shouldn’t you tell the people you care about that you love them every day? :)
