Although the sun is hiding behind the clouds this morning, summer is just around the corner. And, at the Credit Union, summer is always a fun time for us; we love being involved in different events throughout the communities we serve.

Our summer activities kick off Memorial Day weekend at the 13th annual Asian heritage festival, CelebrAsian, in Des Moines. CelebrAsian celebrates Asian heritage with authentic food, educational activities and live cultural entertainment. If you’re planning on checking out this event make sure to visit our booth.

After we recover from our food coma from CelebrAsian, we’ll be hosting our annual Summer Charity Cookout on June 5th at our 42nd Street location. We’ll be serving up burgers, hot dogs and brats from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and all proceeds will benefit the Arthritis Foundation. If you can’t attend the cookout, we invite you to join us at Junior Achievement’s 23rd Annual Volley-4-Education volleyball tournament at Volley’s in Cedar Rapids. The Credit Union will have two teams competing and trust me, you don’t want to miss out on the fun!

Speaking of fun, we’re crossing our fingers for good weather on Saturday, June 13th, because we’ve got one busy day! We’ll be kicking off the day with our C Street Community Appreciation Celebration from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. We’ll have free ice cream, fun games and prizes for the kiddos and you can register to win four tickets to Adventureland!  After we wrap up the party at C Street, we’ll be heading down to Iowa City for the Free Movie Series on the lawn at the Pentacrest. You won’t want to miss out on Guardians of the Galaxy. If you can’t make it to Guardians don’t worry! The Summer of the Arts Free Movie Series runs all summer long. Click here to view the movie schedule.

As you can see, June is going to be a very busy month, but don’t forget to mark your calendars for our 75th Anniversary Membership Appreciation Day on July 19th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids. We hope to see you there!
