Have you heard? We're landing at HQ in the spring of 2020! Building progress is coming along nicely, and our staff is getting excited for the new space.

The space will feature a gym, rooftop studio, collaborative spaces, gender-inclusive restrooms on the first floor, and a total of 9,500 square feet - filled by local businesses.

The first floor will be open to the public and will include a 12,600 square foot Collins Community Credit Union branch. To provide room for offices, conference rooms, and break-out spaces, the branch will feature movable walls, allowing the space to transform based on changing needs.

“Think cubicle, but floor-to-ceiling - and much higher-end,” said John Lewis, Vice President of IT and Facilities. “These walls create flexibility for future needs and can be rearranged as needed. They’re better for the environment, too, as they are recyclable and don’t create construction waste.”

To accommodate the national changes in work environments, the headquarters building will also feature collaborative spaces on the top two floors for employees to use. These rooms will be equipped with A/V conference technology, which will allow employees to easily and conveniently meet with branch managers in other markets to increase internal relationships and communication across all Collins Community Credit Union markets.

The second floor will feature space for a call center and deposit and underwriting operations, while the third floor will house executive offices and offices for human resources, IT, and the marketing team.

Collins Announces Plan For New Corporate Headquarters

Collins Community Credit Union, based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has announced plans to build a new 101,000-square foot corporate headquarters building at 1005 Blairs Ferry Road NE in the Northtowne Market development across from Target. The building will also feature retail and office space for co-tenants.

Collins Community Credit Union will be aiding with the development of 5.25 acres of the Northtowne Market, which is an approximately 35 acre, $70 million mixed-use commercial development. An ownership entity comprised of Collins Community Credit Union, Hunter Companies, developer of the Northtowne Market Project, and Ambrose Development, Inc. will devlop the site.

Collins Community Credit Union has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in the state of Iowa with more than 300 employees and branches throughout Eastern Iowa and the Des Moines Metro Area. With rapid growth and expansion grew the need to build a corporate headquarters. The new building will provide Collins employees space to communicate, collaborate, strategize, and innovate.

“Collins Community Credit Union has a long history in Cedar Rapids and we are excited to demonstrate our continued commitment in this vibrant growing community,” said Stefanie Rupert, President and CEO. “As the financial services industry continues to evolve, having a centrally located building will allow our staff to work more efficiently and effectively to serve our membership and the community.”

Hunter Companies is a design-build construction company based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  For 20 years Hunter Companies has provided clients with full-service development expertise from the beginning conceptual stage of a project all the way to the celebratory ribbon cutting.  “We are honored to have been selected by Collins Community Credit Union to collaborate on this project” said Saren Johnson, Project Manager of Hunter Companies.  “The building will be first class and will position the credit union well for growth and expansion into the coming decades.”

Ambrose Development, Inc. is a development company headquartered in Coralville, Iowa.  Gerry Ambrose, principal, states “[i]t is our privilege not only to be able to assist with site selection through our brokerage but to also be a partner in development of this site with the credit union.” Ambrose & Associates Realtors is the leasing agent for the approximately 12,000 square feet of additional office, restaurant and retail space in the building. Contact Gerry Ambrose at 319-631-8888 or visit ambroserealtors.com for more information on leasing opportunities.

In addition to its partnership with Hunter Companies and Ambrose Development, Inc., Collins Community Credit Union is working with Aspect, Inc. of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Saxton, an Iowa based commercial interior solutions company.

Aspect, Inc. provides client-focused architectural design for commercial, retail, office and similar projects.  Aspect customizes its architectural services to address its clients’ needs and with this project is bringing its experience to bear on designing a functional and dynamic building befitting the new headquarters of Collins Community Credit Union.  “This project is exciting for us and we look forward to working with the credit union to design a building that will really serve its needs and adapt to changes over time” says John Gabrielson, lead designing architect of Aspect, Inc.

Saxton takes a holistic approach in collaboration with the project team to help shape a positive member experience.  “We live by the words SPACE MATTERS,” said Serina Rosalez, lead designer. “When leveraged properly, it can profoundly affect the capability to achieve desired business outcomes and ultimately create a place where people thrive. Saxton is honored to partner with Collins Community Credit Union on their journey to designing a cutting-edge facility.”

The headquarters will feature a large, flexible work environment for the Collins team and common space for community groups and organizations to host meetings, events, and gatherings.

“This building will be a community-focused space for not only our internal Collins team and membership, but the community we share with the towns where we live and work,” said Board Chairwoman Marsha Schulte. “We hope to provide for members and nonmembers alike and share the credit union vision of ‘people helping people."
